Garage Door Repair

Same-day garage door repair across Ottawa.

Broken spring, snapped cable, sensor not lining up — most repairs are diagnosed and finished in one visit.

Garage Door Repair

We fix garage doors, fast.

When something goes wrong with a garage door, it usually goes wrong at the worst possible time — at 7 AM on a Monday, in -20°C weather, or right before you're heading out for an appointment. That's why Overhead Master keeps the trucks stocked and the schedule flexible. Most of our repairs are completed the same day, in a single visit.

We're a local repair team serving Ottawa, Kanata, Orleans, Nepean, and Barrhaven. Our reputation is built on one thing: showing up on time, diagnosing honestly, fixing it right, and not charging for things you don't need.

Common problems we fix

  • Broken torsion spring — loud bang, door won't open, or feels twice as heavy
  • Snapped cable — door is crooked or one side won't lift
  • Off-track door — panel or roller jumped the rail
  • Sensor / safety eye misaligned — opener flashes, door won't close
  • Worn rollers — door is loud, jerky, or wobbles
  • Damaged panels — dent from a backed-into car, or cracked panel from age
  • Opener not responding — dead remote, broken gear, blown logic board
  • Weather seal / bottom retainer worn — cold air, snow, water, or mice getting in

What to expect during the visit

Every repair visit follows the same structure:

  1. Quick safety check — we open the door, listen, and identify the failure point.
  2. On-site diagnosis — we explain what's wrong, what caused it, and what it'll cost. No work starts without your approval.
  3. Repair — most jobs take 30–90 minutes. We carry common parts (springs, cables, rollers, sensors, openers) on the truck.
  4. Test & tune — we cycle the door several times, balance test, lubricate moving parts, vacuum debris.
  5. Walk-through — we show you the repair, explain the warranty, and answer questions before we leave.

Warranty

Every Overhead Master repair includes an 8-year parts warranty and a 3-year labour warranty, plus the manufacturer's parts warranty on any component we install. We document the work on a written invoice — no verbal promises.

Frequently asked

How long does a typical repair take?
Most residential repairs are done in 30–90 minutes. Complex jobs like off-track doors with damaged panels can take 2–3 hours.
Should I open my garage door if I think a spring broke?
No — please don't. A door with a broken spring is up to twice as heavy and can damage the opener if you keep cycling it. Leave it as-is and call us.
Can you repair my door today?
Most days, yes. If you call before noon there's a strong chance we can get you on the same-day route. Same-day weekend service is also available.
Do you charge a service-call fee?
Yes — $95 for the diagnostic visit, but it applies directly to the cost of the repair if you go ahead with the work.
