Door framing & jamb repair in Ottawa
A sound opening
comes first.
Damaged jambs and weak mounting surfaces deserve attention before new trim or hardware goes over them. We identify what needs repair and whether any work falls outside the garage-door job.

The door can only be as square as its frame.
Damaged jambs and weak mounting surfaces deserve attention before new trim or hardware goes over them. Peeling paint and rotten structure are not the same condition.
What we check
- Assessment of the jambs, header and mounting points
- How far the damage extends, and what stays hidden
- Replacement of the affected framing material
- Track and hardware supports made sound
- Finish boundaries and responsibilities set out clearly
What may be hidden behind the trim
Concealed material cannot be judged from a photograph. We tell you what has been inspected, what remains unknown, and how unexpected damage would be handled.

Common questions
Can capping go straight over the damaged frame?
Not where the substrate is unsuitable. Covering damaged wood does not make it strong enough to support the door or hardware.
Can the garage door opening be made wider?
That is a separate project decision. Changes to structural openings may require design, permits and additional trades.
Will I need a new door?
Not necessarily. The existing door and final opening dimensions must be evaluated together.
Can hidden damage change the quote?
Yes. The estimate should explain what is visible and how additional findings would be discussed before further work.
Is this a full building-envelope service?
We’ll explain what we can repair as part of the garage-door work and what may need another specialist.
