Garage door opener repair in Ottawa

Door problem?
Or drive problem?

The motor, controls, safety sensors and door mechanics need to be separated in the diagnosis. Replacing the opener is not the starting assumption.

Open garage door opener housing showing the motor, wiring and internal mechanism.

A failed control is not a failed opener.

The motor, the controls, the safety sensors and the door itself are four separate things. A struggling opener is often reacting to a door that has become hard to move.

What we check

  • Motor, drive, controls and sensors tested separately
  • Door mechanics checked before the opener is blamed
  • Sensor alignment, travel and force limits reset
  • Repair where it is worthwhile, replacement only when it is not
  • Safety reverse tested and explained

We check whether repair makes sense before recommending replacement

A new opener fitted to a binding door will struggle in the same way. Separating the drive from the door is what tells you which one needs the money.

What we check: wall control and remote response, safety sensors, drive and electronics, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

HOW IT WORKS

What to expect

01

Record the model and exact symptom.

02

Separate the door mechanics from the opener.

03

Evaluate the serviceable fault and available parts.

04

Review safety operation after the repair.

We’ll confirm the work, timing and price before anything starts.

Common questions

The motor runs but the door does not move. Is the motor broken?

Not necessarily. The connection to the door, trolley or drive may need attention. Do not assume that more motor power is the answer.

Can I increase the closing force to stop reversing?

Do not use extra force to hide a mechanical or safety fault. Follow the model’s instructions and have unresolved reversing assessed.

Will a universal remote always work?

No. Remote compatibility depends on the exact opener model and control system. Provide the opener model before buying an accessory.

Are flashing lights a diagnosis?

They may indicate a fault, but codes differ by manufacturer and model. Note the light or error pattern and check the manual for your exact opener model.

When does replacement make more sense?

When a safe, supported repair is not practical, compare suitable replacement choices. New smart features alone do not explain the existing fault.
