Spring installation & replacement in Ottawa

Matched to the door.
Sized for its use.

A replacement spring has to be matched to the door. Door weight, spring size, available space and how often the door is used all matter.

Torsion-spring assembly mounted above the inside of a sectional garage door.

The right spring has to match the door.

Two springs that look identical can be wrong for your door. Weight, lift geometry, available headroom and how often the door is used all decide which one belongs there.

What we check

  • Door weight and lift arrangement measured, not assumed
  • Springs specified to that measurement
  • Higher-cycle options compared where they fit
  • Related hardware checked and replaced where needed
  • Balance, travel and safety reverse set on completion

How spring cycle ratings work

A cycle is one full open and close. A garage used as the main entrance sees several times the use of one used only for parking, which is why the rating matters more than the sticker price.

What we check: door weight and spring compatibility, standard or higher-cycle options, related hardware condition, and the final balance and travel of the door.

Common questions

Can I choose a higher-cycle spring?

Possibly. The available design must fit the door, shaft and space. Ask for a documented option rather than assuming every door can use the same upgrade.

Does a longer spring always last longer?

A longer spring does not automatically last longer. Wire size, diameter, required torque and working range also matter.

Will this make my old opener stronger?

The objective is a properly balanced door, not a motor upgrade. An existing opener still needs to be suitable and serviceable.

Does a new door include new springs?

That must be stated in the installation quote. If the garage door itself is being replaced, the spring setup should be matched to the new door rather than assumed to be reusable.

What warranty will apply?

The exact parts, labour and exclusion terms are confirmed with your quote before work is scheduled.
